| hello anyone still reading. i took another long hiatus from xanga. graduate school keeps a body busy. i'm almost done, though. yay! i might not be long for the xanga-world, though. i find that i don't really know what to post anymore. my life has settled into a routine of sorts. we'll see. | | |
| i love sunshine. i really do. it's a magic turn-my-frown-upside down mechanism. maybe i appreciate it all the more because of how grey it can be here during other seasons. while i was running in the park this morning, there were three or four kids soccer games going on at least. I miss playing on a team and having a purpose for fitness other than fitness. I think I'm going to have to join some kind of pickup team in some sport or another. have you ever smelled peonies? they have a lovely delicate but very sweet smell. they don't beat the smell of lilacs, but when their scent wafts up toward the screened in porch or catches your attention as you walk or run by, it's really pleasant. i'm thirsty. | | |
| I won't be writing or checking here for a long while until I finish my thesis. I have found the internet to be perilously addictive lately. This is having a deleterious effect on my writing and grading responsibilities, therefore, I am cutting myself off from the fire hydrant of information and procrastination. I will, as always, still be checking email, but nothing else. If you see my little footprint on your site, email me and reprimand me! No more procrastination--productivity, here I come! (I'm sure I'll just find some other way to procrastinate, but with warmer weather coming, there are many more productive ways to procrastinate than internet surfing and noodling around the bend). | | |
| Writing conclusions to big projects is hard. But the above-mentioned are my new heroes. I can't count the number of pages I've been able to write while playing their great music. it keeps me going at whatever hour. and it's so catchy. I find myself singing it in my head when I'm not working and it kinda makes me want to get back to writing. it's weird because i can hear the spanish words in my head, but definitely can't recreate them with speech (except for a few key phrases). Anyone watching me write while I'm listening the Buena Vista Social Club album would crack up. I'm constantly moving. It makes writing much more interesting and fun. Hopefully it makes it better, too. (wishful thinking). Write write write. More to write. | | |
